I am sorry to share the news that our friend and long time team mate Geoff Penney passed away last weekend following an illness.
I’m sure many of you hold Geoff in great esteem, as he was as nice and friendly a man you could ever wish to meet. Geoff had been quizzing in the Orrell league since the late eighties. Twenty years at The Hare and Hounds Pemberton, relocating with the rest of the team, first to The Millstone and more recently Sherringtons.
Geoff was very strong on sport and I recall his encyclopaedic knowledge of the London Underground system!, gleaned through an extended working stay in the capital during his long career with British Telecom.
We’ll miss Geoff's always smiling face and completely selfless character.
Our condolences to his wife Theresa and the rest of Geoff’s family
The Funeral will take place at 11.00 am Monday 19th October at St Nathaniel’s Church, Platt Bridge WN2 3TD. Following a service at Wigan Crematorium there will be a wake at St Jude’s Rugby Club, Keats Avenue Poolstock, WN3 5UB
