Cup and Plate Draw

On Sunday the draw was made for the Cup and Plate competitions to be played from 15th August until the final on 12th September. The games will be played as a handicap competition. New handicaps will be used based on the 18 matches of the current season. The draw is as follows:-

Ormskirk Quiz League

The Ormskirk Quiz League has a vacancy for a team for next season. All matches will be played using the two attempts rule throughout, as used in rounds 2 and 6 in the Orrell League.

The Robin Hood team is also looking for players.

Presentation Evening and Pairs Competition

This annual end of season event will take place at Orrell Red Triangle Cricket Club,Winstanley Road, Orrell, WN5 7XF, on Friday 3rd November starting at 8.30pm.

Anyone who participated in the games this season, is eligible to enter. Please come along to what should be an enjoyable evening.

Quizzing Grand Prix - Hoylake

On 6th May 2017, the Quizzing Grand Prix circuit event will be held at The Hoylake Social Club.

If you have not taken part in one of these events before, they consist on a 90 minute written quiz, split into six different genera, such as Sport, entertainment etc.  Overall results are calculated on your best 5 scores out of the six, and there are also awards for the top scorers in each of the genera.

Your results contribute to a set of national quiz rankings, enabling you o compaer your performance against hundreds of quizzers around the country and indeed the world.

After the written quiz, there will be a team quiz, and the Hot 100, an international quiz taken by players around the world.

The event opens at 11.00am, for an 11.30amd start, and costs £12.50 per player (first timers and registered students get a 50% discount for their first event).

Mastermind - Contestants Wanted

Fixtures for the New Season

The fixtures for this season are now available on the website. Your own team's fixtures can be found using the teams tab and all the fixtures are available under the fixtures tab.

The new season begins on Tuesday April 4th.

Player Looking For A Team

Mark Davies, who plays for Woodlands in The Warrington Quiz League, is looking to join a team in the Orrell League.  If you could offer him a place, please email him at mark.brian.davies@gmail.com or give him a call at 07702 808266

Due to fixture clashes at the beginning and end of the season, there may be a couple of matches that he is unable to play in

Handicaps for the new season

We plan to run a Handicap table alongside the traditional table as we did last year. The handicaps are based on last year's league results and are the same as were used in the Cup and plate competitions. The Handicaps are as follows:-

Important Dates for the New Season

The Registration meeting for teams wishing to participate in the 2017 season will take place at 8pm on Sunday 12th February at Upholland Conservative Club

 If we have sufficient teams, we aim to start the new season on Tuesday 4th April.
