Orrell & District Quiz League

It has been brought to our attention that Robin McIntosh, well known to many Orrell players, died shortly before Christmas.

Robin's funeral will be held on Friday January 3rd. The service is at 2pm at Charnock Richard  crematorium, followed by a celebration of Robin's life at 3.00pm at Christ Church Newburgh, then refreshments at the Red LIon.  Family flowers only, but donations welcome to Douglas Valley Lions, a cause for whom Robin worked tirelessly.

12 Yard Productions, makers of "Eggheads", are looking for contestants for a new BBC2 show

The programme is a general knowledge quiz where contestants attempt to win thousands of pounds. Standing in their way is the fearsomely competitive Egghead, CJ de Mooi. Can you outsmart a know-it-all quizzer and scoop the jackpot?

The fixtures for the second stage of this season, in which the league divides into two halves, have been published.  The fixtures can be found in the fixtures calendar, and can also be found on each team's individual pages.

A summary of each set of fixtures can also be seen below - the home team is shown in the left hand column, and the away team in the top row.

Earlier this year, a member of the Running Horse Colts team, Brian Mason lost his wife following a brain tumour. In recognition of the kindness and support provided during her illness, Brian, Colin Davies and Les Hewitt are taking part in an organised charity bike ride to raise funds for Macmillan nurses. The Bucket & Spade ride runs from Southport to Blackpool and back, a total distance of 75 miles.

The Robin Hood have played in the Ormskirk and District Quiz league for about 20 years . Due to various things over the years we now find ourselves with just 4 members for the oncoming season which is just not feasable . Due to the present economic climate, St Teresa's club is shutting on Tuesday nights, so the team are moving to the Britannia at Hall Green, Upholland. The first game at the Britannia will be against Park Lane on Tuesday 28th May.
